On Thursday, October 6th at 7:00pm at the Union County Public Library, 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg, CSCC hosted special guest speaker Gene Stilp. Mr. Stilp has worked for decades as an "activist for good government," and he discussed the redistricting efforts that will take place in Harrisburg this year, during which the political party in power typically redraws the map to try and concentrate their opponents into as few districts as possible. In 2005, Mr. Stilp helped lead the fight against the infamous legislative pay raise in Harrisburg and is the creator and keeper of the giant Pink Pig inflatable balloon that goes after and highlights legislative excesses in Harrisburg and across the state. He also files key court actions on good government issues and key actions against legislators and judges before their respective ethics bodies. This meeting was reported on in the Daily Item (link to article here)."

RDA seeks to educate its members and the public about deep shale gas drilling and all of its ramifications, and to balance the conversation with authenticity. The plaintiffs of the lawsuit are 30,000 Ecuadorians living in the Amazonian rainforest, which they claim has been polluted by the oil industry. CRUDE shows interviews from both sides, and explores the influence of media support, celebrity activism, the power of multinational corporations, the shifting power in Ecuadorian politics, and rapidly-disappearing indigenous cultures.
